[mood |ecstatic*OMG - FLAILS*]

A few last minute things:

1. Since most of you expressed interest in showing off our house pride during the Welcome Banquet, I want to strongly encourage everyone to wear either their house shirt and/or pirate gear. Nothing like starting out strong!

2. Thank you to everyone who let me know if they were coming or not to our RoR. I have not called to make an actual reservation YET - will do so tomorrow. So, if you are planning to attend, and haven't responded to this post, please do so, just so we can have a more accurate count. Thanks!

Witch's Brew Cafe. Friday, Oct. 7th, 1:00pm. Be there.

3. Don't forget a fun way for people to recognize you is to paste a color copy of your default icon onto your name badge. *points to icon*

4. A list of all of the ways that we can earn points can be found at this entry by hummingfox or on the official Master Schedule. Every little point counts!

5. TONY TOLEDO FOR THE HOUSE CUP!!!

[mood |bouncy4 more days!!!!!!!]

So I don't know about you guys but I'm really starting (*snickers* yeah right "starting") to get extremely excited about going to Salem in 4 short days. So while I started packing I decided that I needed to check the weather. YAY weather.com!!!! So for those of us reptiles, cold-blooded people and Southerners, beware and pack that winter gear. It's gonna be a cool time up there as well as wet.  Lows registering between 44 to 53 degrees Fahrenheit and the highs registering between 56 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Anyways, be safe if you're driving up as I know some are starting to travel tomorrow and I can't wait to see you guys!

I'm not sure if this has been posted before or not, but...

The New England Pirate Museum.

This would be just PERFECT for us, wouldn't it? I'm seriously considering taking a visit there. :D

Ahoy maties! My name’s Delaine, & I’m a habitual procrastinator. lol Better late than never, I guess. It’s delightful to see so many friendly & welcoming people in our lovely House! I’m a total noob in the HP fandom, so it’s a huge relief. I live near Salem, MA & my cousin was going to fly out to attend TWH with me. Sadly, she isn’t going to make it anymore. So I’ll be coming by myself, Halloween Ball included.

Anyway, I’m very theatrical & love to get dressed up. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays for that reason. I’m so down for dressing up like a pirate!! Avast ye scurvy dogs!! *brandishes an imaginary sword* Oh what fun! Are we officially dressing as pirates for the Welcome Banquet? Oh yeah, there’s also a Pirate Museum in Salem, next to the Beer Works no less! And a couple costume shops in town, incase you’re missing your hook/peg leg. I bought my t-shirt last minute, as usual. Heh. It should get here in time, though.

I’m 27, married, F, 2 cats, no kids. I began reading the series last summer. It was a luxury to be able to read them one after the other through OotP! This waiting-around-for-the-next-book thing sucks. lol I’ll admit to feeling slightly unnerved at the thought of our House being Slytherin. I mean, sure I have a dark side, maybe darker than the average person… But I just never identified with any of the Slytherin characters. Still, I’ll wear my House colors proudly, regardless. I know the area pretty well, if anyone has questions, feel free to ask me. I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction. Salem in October is charged with a magical energy that will surely add to the excitement & atmosphere of TWH. Good times are right around the corner! *Whooo-hooo*

Well, I’d best be gettin' me costume together! *tears some red fabric* Safe travels everyone & see you all at the Welcome Banquet!!

Huggles!

Delaine

P.S. Is anyone here doing the D.A.D.A. Scavenger hunt at 8:00 am on Saturday 10/8/05? I’d like to give it a go, provided I’m not too trashed from the Toil & Trouble Tour. Ahahaha!!

Other happenings in Salem [Oct. 1st, 2005|02:07 pm]

Hello everyone-

I was doing a bit of research about Salem today and found that Salem is quite the party town during the month of October. While I know that just about everyone is planning for a Potter filled weekend, there are a couple other events going on that might be of interest. The Annual Psychic Fair and Witchcraft Expo will be going on all month long, 10am to 10pm at the Mesuem Place Mall (more info: http://www.festivalofthedead.com/psychicfair.html ). It looks like admission to just browse around is free.

Maybe the people who weren't lucky enough to score tickets to Tea with Trelawny (like me, boo...) would be interested in this. I might try to make time one of the days and check it out. There are also loads of other events going on, so if you're going in a few days early or staying a few days longer, check out the links on the left side of the page.

Have a safe trip everyone. 5 MORE DAYS!!!!

Hey guys, I wasn't sure if you realized, but the RoR scheduling is only for our benefit, meaning, the "Rooms" have no idea that we're coming! Since ours is at a pub (yarrr - pass ter grog!), I'm imagining it will be small-ish, so I was going to call ahead and let them know we're coming.

Soooo... if you all don't mind replying and letting me know whether or not you think you're going to be able to attend, so I can at least give them an estimate head count.

Just a reminder, we're meeting at:

Witch's Brew Cafe
Friday, Oct. 7th, 1:00pm

Be there or I'll rip yer insides out wit me hook! Arrr!

Hi! *waves*
I would not normally come post over on a house LiveJournal, but our Heads of House really wanted me to pass on the information that was on _witchinghour_ again. Volunteers earn points for their house, and we're especially in need of Quidditch volunteers. If you're playing on a professional team, you won't be able to referee, but anyone else is welcome! Referees and Snitch movers work in pairs, by the way, so that takes some of the pressure off, too. (And, best of all, you get to blow a wizardy purple whistle if you're a referee.) Snitch movers stroll around the pitch and run across once in a while with the Snitch, but the referees won't need to run so much.

The Witching Hour's Wicked Awesome Volunteer Team is seeking a few more helping hands for the conference. Could you spare a few hours to do something you'll mostly likely enjoy? We are still in need of the following:

Quidditch
Support crew--referees and human Snitches!--are needed for the American Professional Quidditch Association tournament on Saturday, October 8! House players who want to immerse themselves in the game, (former) armchair coaches, and those willing to speak up when fair is foul and foul is fair have the necessary skills. National Public Radio will cover the event for their program "Only a Game." Training is available on Saturday morning, so student registrants and weekend attendees are encouraged to join in. Eight volunteers are needed.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Interested? Please e-mail volunteers@witchinghour.org.

Thanks again! See you in Salem!
Cheers,
Hallie

If you want pirate wear... [Sep. 26th, 2005|11:45 am]

Seeing canellaphile ordering shirts for people gave me an idea:

I live literally a block over and up two streets from a Halloween costume store. The place has a decent pirate-wear selection, ranging from all kinds of eye patches to full pirate costumes and everything in between, such as pirate earrings, pirate hats/bandanas, fake mustaches, fake hooked hand, fake boot tops, parrots (fake, too), pirate swords... you name it, they have it.

If you find yourself wanting some simple pirate accessories but don't know where to get them, here's your chance: just go to www.newyorkcostumes.com and do a "pirates" search. If you find something you like, let me know and I can get it for you. We'll do a product-money exchange once we're at TWH.

If you place an order with me, you MUST buy it. The store has a no return policy, even for unopened packages :\

I prefer orders that are both specific and flexible, since the Web site sells items that I didn't see on display at the store. For example:
- I want a pirate eyepatch model #---- on the Web site.
- If that model is not available, I still want an eyepatch, priced between $1.99 and $2.99.
- I still want a pirate/skull on my eyepatch even if it's a different style.

You get the point :)

If you prefer to contact me directly, my e-mail address is listed in my userinfo.

(Of course, if your order is "Get me an dubloon, any dubloon!" then I'll just go for the cheapest one available.)
